Dubai International Airport in chaos: latest flight updates

Dubai have issued a fresh travel advisory, warning passengers of potential disruptions due to adverse weather expected between March 23 and 27.

Dubai Airports urged travellers heading to Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport to allow extra time for their journeys and check flight updates directly with airlines, as reduced visibility and wet road conditions could impact travel.

Meanwhile, Sharjah International Airport also requested passengers that weather conditions may affect flight schedules and advised them to stay updated before departure.

Airlines issue key travel instructions

Emirates

Passengers flying between March 23 and 27 are advised to:

  • Arrive at least 2 hours before departure
  • Check flight status before leaving home
  • Update contact details for alerts
  • Monitor emails for delays or cancellations

The airline is currently operating a limited number of flights due to operational constraints.

Options for passengers:

  • Rebook flights until May 31, 2026
  • Request refunds online
  • Contact travel agents for assistance

Etihad Airways

Operating reduced services from Abu Dhabi, the airline advised:

  • Travel only with a confirmed booking
  • Check flight status online
  • Keep contact details updated

Passengers with tickets issued before February 28 for travel until April 15 can rebook or request refunds free of charge until May 15, 2026.

The airline also warned travellers to avoid fake social media accounts, stressing it never asks for sensitive information online.

Flydubai

Flydubai cautioned that adverse weather may impact operations at Dubai airports.

Passengers are advised to:

  • Allow extra travel time
  • Arrive at least 4 hours before departure
  • Check baggage allowances and flight updates
  • Monitor airport screens for gate changes

The airline is running a reduced schedule, with possible longer flight durations due to rerouting.

Air Arabia

Air Arabia said unstable weather could affect flights from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah.

Passengers should:

  • Check flight status before departure
  • Travel only with confirmed bookings
  • Keep contact details updated

The airline continues limited operations to destinations including Vienna, Dhaka, Cairo, Istanbul, Mumbai, Riyadh and Bangkok until April 15, 2026.

For cancelled flights:

  • One free date change within 30 days
  • Full credit voucher or refund available

Travel advisory in effect

The airport officials stated that weather-related disruptions remain possible, and passengers are encouraged to stay updated with airlines before heading to the airport.
