YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, has asked “desi parents” not to blame content creators for what their children watch online, urging them to monitor their children’s YouTube history instead.
During a podcast, Ducky questioned the upbringing of parents who blame content creators for the videos their children consume. Recalling his own childhood, he said his parents did not give him an iPad or phone and would only allow him to get a game if he achieved good matriculation grades.
“My parents did not give me an iPad or phone growing up. They said, ‘You will only get a game if you get good matric grades,’” he said.
Ducky also claimed that his content does not negatively influence the public.
Recalling how his father monitored his online activity, the YouTuber said, “My father kept an eye on my browsing history. He could track me and see if I was searching for or watching anything inappropriate or 18+. If my father could do that, why can’t other parents?”
Throughout the podcast, Ducky also opened up about his experience of spending time in jail.
Addressing the latest controversy surrounding fellow YouTuber Rajab Butt, Ducky chose not to comment directly on the matter. However, he said that if he had been in Butt’s position, he would not have allowed the situation to happen.
The YouTuber also criticised social media, claiming that “90 per cent” of what people see online is fake. He also spoke about his friendships and relationships within the entertainment and social media industry.
Ducky Bhai’s cases
Earlier this year, Ducky Bhai was indicted over allegations of promoting gambling apps on social media. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had registered cases against several YouTubers and TikTokers for allegedly promoting gambling apps through their social media accounts.
Ducky spent around 100 days in jail following his arrest. After his release, he uploaded a lengthy YouTube video detailing his experience and the ordeal he went through during his time behind bars.
