The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a special registration drive for minority communities in Pakistan.
The campaign is being held from August 10 to 13 as part of National Minorities Day activities.
Under the campaign, special teams are visiting areas with large minority populations. The teams are using mobile registration vans to provide identity services closer to people’s homes.
NADRA has asked members of minority communities to use these services.
This can help all citizens to make sure they have valid legal identification. The mobile registration vans also offer iris scanning services.
NADRA has urged all citizens to take advantage of the facility. People can also get their iris scans done without any additional fee.
NADRA issues big warning to social media users
NADRA previously warned citizens about fake tracking IDs and false information being shared on social media.
A NADRA spokesperson said tracking IDs will not be shared through comments on social media. This is to protect people’s personal information.
Citizens have also been asked not to share their tracking IDs or other personal details in comments on NADRA’s social media accounts.
NADRA advised people to use only its official sources and verified platforms for identity documents and other services.
People should also avoid trusting unknown social media accounts, links or messages.
Citizens can check their tracking ID by sending an SMS to 8400. They can also contact the NADRA helpline at 051-111-786-100 or dial 1777 from a mobile phone.
NADRA services are also available through the Pak ID mobile app.
NADRA has again asked citizens to keep their personal and identity information private. People should also check any links or messages from unknown sources before taking any action.
Special facilitation measures for senior citizens
Previously, NADRA introduced a special home service for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
According to NADRA, people who cannot easily visit a NADRA centre can book an appointment and ask a NADRA Biker to visit their home.
The service allows them to renew or update their National Identity Card without going to a NADRA office.
