Persons with disabilities in Faisalabad were given assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, electric bikes, and hearing aids, as part of an ongoing welfare program by the Punjab government.
Amina Alam, the Deputy Director Social Welfare on Friday said that the program is meant to encourage inclusive welfare and enhance social protection of special persons throughout the province.
She pointed out that a total of 298 assistive devices are already being distributed in the Faisalabad district under this initiative, which is aimed at enhancing mobility, communication, and independence of the beneficiaries.
In the most recent round, 13 people were supported with the help of the devices according to their needs, such as four electric bikes, two motorised wheelchairs, and seven devices with hearing aids.
This strategic distribution is an indication of how the government has tried to solve various problems affecting persons with disabilities.
The former Member of Assembly Hajji Akram Ansari, Member Chief Minister Media Cell Adnan Sialvi, Divisional Coordinator Rana Waris Hussain, Director Social Welfare Khalida Rafiq and Saylani Welfare Trust representative Muhammad Aslam Nisar attended the ceremony.
Besides the assistive devices, the Saylani Welfare Trust supplied the recipients with clothing and this is in addition to the overall care and inclusion spirit.
The officials stressed the initiative is a component of a larger policy framework that aims to ensure persons with disabilities enjoy equal opportunities to live dignified and independent lives.
They observed that access to the assistive technologies is a key factor in enhancing confidence and increased participation in education, employment and social activities.
The parents of the beneficiaries were thankful to the Punjab Chief Minister that such welfare considerations had been given a high priority.
They also felt that the Social Welfare Department is doing a great job and reaching out to deserving people and serving their practical needs in an efficient manner.
