Jamaat e Islami Pakistan has launched digital education cards in Karachi to help students buy items related to their school worth Rs10,000, according to the reports today.
The cards were distributed during a ceremony at Gulberg Gymkhana, Karachi. Around 5,000 male and female students from town schools received support under the programme, according to the reports.
Students can use the cards to buy books, notebooks, stationery, uniforms, and other educational items. The initiative is expected to reduce the financial burden on families facing rising education expenses.
Speaking at the event, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman praised the organisers, donors, and supporting teams for helping launch the programme. He said that nearly 1.4 million children have already been registered under the project in different areas.
He also said Jamaat e Islami has upgraded around 50 schools in its nine towns to improve learning conditions for the students.
Hafiz Naeem said that education is the responsibility of the government. But many children in Pakistan are still out of school.
According to him, millions of children in the country. And these also include many in Sindh, who still do not have access to proper education.
He criticised the condition of government schools in Sindh and claimed many schools lack proper facilities, quality education, and a good environment for students.
BISP scholarships help needy students
The Benazir Income Support Programme has started a scholarship program to support children from low income families and help them continue their education.
The program is designed for children whose mothers are already registered with BISP. This programme aims to reduce financial pressure on poor families and encourage children to stay in school.
To process and apply for the scholarship, parents must visit the nearest BISP office with their child’s NADRA issued B-Form and the mobile number registered with BISP. The office will provide an enrolment slip.
