All educational institutions in Peshawar will remain closed on Monday, October 12, 2026, following an order issued by the deputy commissioner.
According to a notice, all public and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, within the territorial jurisdiction of Peshawar district will remain closed on Monday.
Earlier, it was reported that all public and private educational institutions across Mardan district, including schools, colleges and universities, would also remain closed on October 12, under orders issued by the deputy commissioner. All examinations and papers scheduled for the day have also been cancelled.
It is pertinent to mention that an emergency has been imposed in KP, while governor’s rule has also been introduced. The measures have been approved under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.
Following the imposition, internet disruptions were reported from parts of Peshawar. Mobile network and data services have been slowed or shut down in selected areas of some cities. However, there is no province-wide shutdown of mobile data or internet.
The Pakistan Army has also been deployed in the province to help maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens amid growing terrorism threats.
