To ensure smooth electricity bill payments for its millions of customers, K-Electric has launched a new cashless payment system. The new facility gives consumers the option to pay their electricity bills immediately by debit or credit card by tapping into Point-of-Sale (POS) machines at specific consumer care centres.
The initiative is designed to benefit customers by saving their time, making payments easier and encouraging them to go for digital financial services, K-Electric said. This will eliminate the need for people to carry money or queue in banks or other payment centres to pay their bills, the company said, which will take minutes instead of days.
The new service can be used with various local and international payment cards such as PayPak, Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay, so that more people can enjoy the service.
According to K-Electric, the process of paying bills via POS machines will be quicker, safer, clearer and will also promote digital payments and get customers acquainted with modern banking services.
The company added that the initiative is in line with its efforts to offer modern and better services to the customers. It also intends to continue to grow its online business in the future, to enable customers to make electricity bill payments and other customer services more convenient, secure and efficient.
Digital payments are rapidly gaining traction in Pakistan, and the launch of the cashless system will certainly offer more convenience to consumers in paying their electricity bills and less strain on the banking system, cut down on time, cash-less transactions, and move Pakistan toward a more documented economy. The new service will be of special importance to customers who are already accustomed to making everyday purchases and payments with debit and credit cards.
