The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has issued a formal notification declaring Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, as working days to accelerate and improve the efficiency of its electricity bill recovery operations.
According to the notification, PESCO has decided to ensure the full recovery of outstanding electricity dues and achieve its recovery targets for the 2026-27 fiscal year. All PESCO operational field offices will remain fully functional on September 26 and 27, with staff assigned to special recovery operations.
To expedite the recovery process, PESCO has directed all Superintending Engineers (SEs) to form special recovery teams within their respective circles. Executive Engineers (XENs) and Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) will personally lead the teams in the field.
All supervising officers have also been instructed to submit daily reports to the PESCO Chief Commercial Office detailing recovery activities and progress made during the two working days. PESCO management has directed all Superintending Engineers to ensure that recovery operations against electricity theft and defaulters are carried out swiftly and effectively.
On the other hand, the National Assembly Secretariat has implemented a “work-from-home” policy for its employees as part of a series of austerity measures aimed at saving fuel and reducing expenses. However, employees working remotely will not be entitled to daily allowances or overtime pay.
According to the details, the new measures have been implemented with immediate effect. Under the policy, 50 per cent of employees will work from the office, while the remaining 50 per cent will work from home on a rotational basis. A duty roster will be prepared for employees working remotely.
They will be required to remain available by phone, email and WhatsApp and may be called to the office with one hour’s notice whenever required. Employees working from home will not be entitled to daily allowances or overtime payments. They will also not be permitted to leave the station without prior approval from the competent authority.
