Emirates has issued an important travel advisory for passengers departing from Dubai International Airport (DXB), warning of heavy traffic and increased passenger volumes as the summer holiday travel season gets underway.
The airline said Terminal 3 is expected to be particularly busy from July 3 to 5, with high demand for travel likely to continue throughout the summer vacation period. Passengers have been advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure and allow extra time for traffic, parking, security checks and immigration procedures.
Emirates urged travellers to complete immigration formalities at least 90 minutes before departure and reach their boarding gates one hour before their scheduled flight.
To help ease congestion, the airline recommended using online check-in, the Emirates mobile app, self-service kiosks and baggage drop facilities. Online and app check-in services open 48 hours before departure, allowing passengers to manage bookings, access digital boarding passes and receive flight updates.
The carrier also highlighted its early baggage drop service, which allows passengers departing from Dubai to check in and drop off luggage up to 24 hours before departure. For flights to the United States, baggage can be dropped up to 12 hours before departure.
Emirates encouraged passengers to consider using the Dubai Metro to reach Terminal 3 and avoid road traffic. Additional services, including city check-in facilities in DIFC and Ajman, as well as home check-in options for eligible travellers, are also available.
The airline further reminded passengers to review baggage regulations before heading to the airport. Power banks must be carried in hand luggage and are not permitted in checked baggage, while smart bags and electronic vaping devices must comply with specific safety requirements.
Emirates said travellers should plan ahead and use available check-in services to ensure a smooth journey during the peak summer travel period.
On the other hand, Dubai announced that visitors can now obtain single-entry tourist visas within 48 working hours after completing the required application process.
According to the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, the update was issued to simplify entry procedures and enhance convenience for international travellers.
In a statement shared on its official Instagram account, the GDRFA said applicants can submit their visa requests through accredited tour operators, which process applications using streamlined and efficient procedures to ensure a smooth travel experience.
The authority added that applicants are required to provide a recent passport-sized photograph, a copy of a valid passport, and, in some cases, a national identity card from their home country. Once all documents are submitted, applications are processed within a short timeframe.
Officials said the initiative reflects Dubai’s continued efforts to strengthen its position as a leading global tourism hub by expanding digital services and making travel procedures faster and more accessible for visitors.
Representatives of licensed tourism companies further noted that many visa applications are approved within hours of meeting all requirements, with some travellers receiving their visas in just two to three hours, highlighting Dubai’s focus on fast-tracking entry services for tourists.
