The second batch of the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially joined, with more than 1300 fresh graduates.

At the end of March, a total of 1700 graduates were selected through transparent digital balloting process.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide industry-specific training and ease the transition of engineers from academic learning to professional practice.

The selected candidates who remain will be placed after they have completed their reporting formalities through subsequent digital balloting phases.

The graduates who have been selected have been welcomed by senior officials in their respective organisations. The orientation sessions and the onboarding procedures have begun.

The placements of the students will span multiple departments that will spread across more than 60 public and private sector organisations.

This will ensure exposure to diverse industries and real-world engineering challenges.

The participation in this program is from provincial and federal departments which include Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It also includes leading private and public sector employers.

The organisations have committed to providing valuable practical experience and field-based training.

About 300 seats were reserved exclusively for engineering graduates from Balochistan. All these seats have been successfully filled. This will enable strong representation from Balochistan in this program.

Engineer Waseem Nasir, Chairman PEC has also expressed satisfaction with the successful rollout of the second batch.

He highlighted that the fully digital selection process was merit based and ensured transparency and fairness.

According to him the program is not only designed to provide technical exposure but will also strengthen soft skills and professional competence.

The GET program will offer selected students with six months of structured training, five months of field experience and a month of dedicated skill development.

The participants will also be receiving a monthly stipend of Rs50,000.
