Claim: “Italy bans visas for Pakistanis, announces Meloni.”

Verdict: False

Social media posts claiming that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has announced a ban on visas for Pakistani citizens are false.

No such announcement has been found in official Italian government or embassy notices. In fact, the Embassy of Italy in Islamabad published visa application guidance in July 2026, confirming that Pakistani applicants can continue to apply for short-term Schengen, family-reunion and work visas through the designated application centres.

The Italian Embassy also issued a public notice in September 2026 regarding employment visa applications, further confirming that visa procedures for Pakistani applicants remain in place.

The Consulate General of Italy in Karachi has likewise published official instructions for applicants seeking Italian and Schengen visas, including study visas.

Therefore, the viral social media reports claiming that Italy has banned visas for Pakistanis on the orders of Giorgia Meloni are misleading and should not be shared as factual information.

FACT CHECK: FALSE — Giorgia Meloni has not announced a blanket visa ban on Pakistani citizens.
