Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to arrive in Islamabad tomorrow, on Tuesday, on a one-day official visit. The bus terminals at Faizabad have been closed due to his arrival.
According to the details, the national flags of Pakistan and Iran have been displayed across the Red Zone before his arrival.
Citizens have also been requested to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. The arrival time for the VIP movement has not been announced.
Citizens have been advised to keep an extra 45 minutes to one hour in mind before starting their journey, as traffic disruptions may occur.
VIP movement is expected between the Old Airport and the Red Zone at unspecified times.
Authorities have also clarified that reports about a local holiday in Islamabad are false at this time. People are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
Iranian President Pezeshkian to visit Pakistan
The Director-General of Public Relations at Iran’s President’s Office, Habib Abbasi, informed today that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Pakistan on Tuesday, June 23, for a likely one-day trip.
According to Iran’s President’s Office, the visit aims to thank Pakistan for its role in mediating between Iran and the United States (US).
According to the details, discussions will also focus on following up on agreements from previous visits. Reports say that it may also focus on ways to increase economic cooperation between the two countries.
The announcement comes as Iran-US talks started in Switzerland. Pakistan has played a key role in mediating talks between Tehran and Washington in recent months.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir also attended the first round of the talks in Switzerland.
