A controversy has emerged over the entry of Farrukh Khokhar into Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, following claims that a five-marla commercial plot was transferred to the party chief in connection with the development.
According to the report circulating about the matter, Khokhar provided Fazlur Rehman with a five-marla commercial plot in exchange for being inducted into JUI-F. A document suggests that Khokhar expected the political affiliation to protect him from possible action by the Crime Control Department (CCD).
The report have raised questions about the nature of Khokhar’s political association with JUI-F and whether he sought political or administrative benefits through his proximity to the party leadership.
The ownership and transfer of the commercial plot have also come under scrutiny. Key questions include its location, the date of transfer, its actual market value and whether it was registered in Fazlur Rehman’s name or transferred through another individual.
Authorities would also need to clarify the cases registered against Khokhar and their current legal status to determine whether his political affiliation involved any preferential treatment or conflict of interest.
The central issue is not simply Khokhar’s induction into JUI-F, but whether a financial arrangement was linked to political affiliation or protection.
If established, the alleged connection between the property transfer and political induction could raise serious questions about political transparency, party ethics and conflicts of interest.
Fazlur Rehman and Farrukh Khokhar should clarify the reports, while relevant authorities should investigate the reported property transaction and any possible exchange of political favours.
