Fatima Sana calls for women’s cricket T20 league

Fatima Sana, Pakistan’s women’s cricket captain has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that they should launch a women’s cricket league soon.

She was speaking in Lahore when she said that a better structure and international exposure would significantly increase team performance ahead of major tournaments.

It was emphasised by her that the importance of a proper women’s cricket league in Pakistan. She further said it was long awaited.  

She also suggested that if foreign players are introduced in domestic competitions it will help raise the overall standard of women’s cricket in the country.

World Cup Preparation: The Main Focus

The national captain of the team highlighted that the team is currently focusing on preparing ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

It was noted by her that the current phase is an important phase for improving match readiness at the international level and for building combinations.

Tours will boost confidence

The captain of Pakistan mentioned that Zimbabwe’s team is touring Pakistan before the World Cup. She also mentioned that Ireland is scheduled to visit.

It was emphasised by her that these series will help the team gain valuable experience. It will also help the team to improve performance under different and difficult conditions.

Fatima Sana further revealed that the players have been encouraged to adopt an attacking and aggressive style of cricket.

According to her domestic performances have already shown promising results for women’s cricket.

She said it is very important that strong combination is built for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

She further said that in T20S, a single player can change the outcome of a match. She said it is also important to focus on consistency.

She herself is an all-rounder and expressed a desire to contribute to the team.
