Ex Federal Minister and senior politician Fawad Chaudhry has stated Pakistan has taken the right decision of joining Gaza “Board of Peace” aimed at securing lasting peace in Gaza.
“Absolutely correct decision, Pakistan must play its role in defining future of the people of Palestine’ he tweeted.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan has accepted an invitation to join the proposed Gaza “Board of Peace” aimed at securing lasting peace in Gaza, the Foreign Office confirmed on Tuesday.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, US President Donald Trump extended the invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to become part of the initiative. The spokesperson said Pakistan has expressed its support for the Gaza Peace Plan under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The spokesperson added that the primary objective of the Board of Peace is to take practical steps toward achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Pakistan has also emphasised the urgent need to expand humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people amid the ongoing crisis.
Reiterating Islamabad’s longstanding position, the Foreign Office stated that Pakistan strongly supports the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination. The spokesperson said Pakistan backs the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Foreign Office further noted that Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, expressing hope that the Board of Peace platform would lead to tangible progress toward peace.
