The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) uncovered a fake Nikah Nama from a 13-year-old girl, who was being trafficked to Saudi Arabia at Faisalabad Airport.

FIA officials at Faisalabad Airport blocked the girl, Hira Firdous, a Burewala resident, from travelling to Saudi Arabia, according to the details.

The girl was being sent to the country under the pretence of an Umrah visa, officials said.

She handed over her travel documents at the airport, which were then scanned and verified, and the Nikah Nama presented under her documents was discovered to be a fake.

The main agent, named Zahid, was found and arrested by the FIA at the airport, and legal proceedings have been started over the incident.

The FIA filed a case and nominated three individuals in relation to the alleged case of human trafficking.

The names of those nominated are Zahid, Anis, the Nikah Khawan who performed the fake marriage and Fayyaz, who was introduced as the girl’s husband and is staying in Saudi Arabia.

FIA officials said that Hira Firdous also made her statement in the investigation. In her statement, she revealed that she had been forcibly married.

She also said she does not want to live with her parents or in-laws.

After the incident, the FIA has initiated a fresh investigation into the case to establish what happened in relation to the alleged forced marriage and attempts to traffic.

Officials are also carrying out raids to arrest the other suspects nominated in the case.

The investigation is still ongoing and the police are trying to find and arrest all the other accused.
