Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir chaired the 276th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday. There, senior military leaders reviewed the country’s security situation and discussed regional developments.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forum offered prayers for the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians.
They reviewed the overall security situation and expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness and professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The conference expressed concern over the alleged use of Afghan territory by Indian backed militant groups, including Fitna al Khawarij (FAK) and Fitna al Hindustan (FAH), to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
The forum said that Pakistan’s armed forces would continue intelligence-based operations against terrorism under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.
It also stressed the need to strengthen governance and public services in areas affected by militancy.
It said better governance is important to improve public welfare. And to weaken the link between terrorism and crime.
The forum said there has been an increase in hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns after what it described as Pakistan’s success in Marka-e-Haq.
It condemned all forms of support for proxy groups. Further, it said that any attempt to destabilise Pakistan would be dealt with firmly.
The military leadership also reviewed the regional situation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution and regional cooperation.
Indus Waters Treaty
The conference also discussed India’s statements on the Indus Waters Treaty. The forum reaffirmed the National Security Committee’s directive issued on April 24, 2025. It said that Pakistan would take all necessary steps to protect its rightful share of water.
The forum also condemned human rights violations and demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
It reiterated Pakistan’s diplomatic, political and moral support for the people of Kashmir. It also called for their right to self-determination in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In his closing remarks, Field Marshal Asim Munir directed commanders to continue work on the military’s transformation plan. And maintain a high level of operational readiness to respond to conventional and hybrid threats while protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty.
