Field Marshal Asim Munir holds key meetings with Turkish, Saudi officials: ISPR

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), held several high-level meetings during his official visit to Türkiye on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In Istanbul, Field Marshal Asim Munir separately met Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

He also met Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defence Minister Yaşar Güler and Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.

The meetings focused on matters of mutual interest, defence cooperation and the regional security situation.

Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia discuss defence cooperation

Field Marshal Asim Munir also attended a meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence.

The meeting brought together representatives from Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.

The three countries discussed ways to improve strategic coordination and further strengthen defence cooperation.

The meetings highlighted the close ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. They also showed the growing cooperation between the three countries in defence and strategic matters.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrives in Türkiye

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir earlier arrived in Turkiye on an official visit. During the visit, he was expected to hold important meetings with the Turkish leadership and senior military officials.

The ISPR, in a brief statement issued on Sunday, said CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived “in Turkiye on an official visit”.

It was also expected that discussions during Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s visit would focus on defence and military cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye, the regional security situation, and matters of mutual interest.
