Field Marshal Asim Munir meets UN chief, discuss regional stability

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on October 7, 2026.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and the regional security situation.
They also discussed the role of the United Nations in promoting international peace and security.
The two sides exchanged views on regional stability, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, India’s abeyance of the Indus Waters Treaty and terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.

US Afghanistan War Commission delegation

A delegation of the US Afghanistan War Commission met with the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The delegation was led by Co-Chairs Shamila N. Chaudhary and Dr Colin F. Jackson. The group is reviewing the United States’ 20-year involvement in Afghanistan.
The meeting focused on issues related to Pakistan and Afghanistan. The officials discussed Pakistan’s role during the conflict and the security situation in the region.
