Fans slam FIFA over rising 2026 World Cup ticket prices

FIFA 2026 World Cup

The international football federation FIFA has made more tickets for the 2026 World Cup for sale, but its introduction of new and more expensive types of tickets has started a backlash among numerous fans.

FIFA declared on Wednesday that more tickets will be put on sale for all the 104 games in the category 1, 2 and 3.

In conjunction with this, the new front category prices will also be in effect.

Following the introduction of the new category, the fans on social media have been complaining that they had not been provided with better seats initially and instead, they received tickets to less favourable locations.

In December FIFA announced the prices of the tickets in the first wave, according to which the tickets of the first round for the Category 3 cost 140 dollars, and the ticket for final match cost 8,680 dollars.

The price of certain tickets was raised to 10,990 dollars later when the sales were resumed on April 1.

FIFA has yet to give any official statement on the critique about the new types of tickets.

Conversely, as reported by the American media, the sales of tickets to the inaugural match between United States and Paraguay are not as impressive as anticipated.

It was reported that over 40,000 tickets for this match have been sold in California.

There are over 50,000 tickets already sold for the match between Iran and New Zealand which will be conducted in the same stadium.

FIFA states that the approximate number of spectators in the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is about 69,650.

According to fans, with the ever-increasing prices, the World Cup is turning to be unaffordable to common fans.
