Pakistan armed forces pays tribute to Naik Saif Ali Janjua Shaheed on 78th death anniversary

The armed forces of Pakistan have paid tribute to the brave Naik Saif Ali Janjua Shaheed on his 78th death anniversary.

The Pakistan Army has honoured his bravery during the 1948 war and his sacrifice in defence of the country.

According to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the chiefs of the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, and Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza paid tribute to the soldier.

Naik Saif Ali Janjua is remembered for defending the strategically important Pir Kalewa position during the 1948 war, despite repeated enemy attacks.

He continued to carry out his duties under difficult conditions, demonstrating courage and determination on the defensive front, according to the statement.

His actions remain part of Pakistan’s military history and are commemorated as an example of dedication to duty and the defence of the country.

The armed forces said Janjua’s sacrifice reflected the courage, resilience and sense of responsibility required of those serving in the country’s defence.

His bravery continues to serve as an example for future generations, while his contribution is remembered alongside those of other soldiers who lost their lives in service.

The tribute also reaffirmed the military’s commitment to remembering personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of Pakistan.

The 1948 war, also known as the First Kashmir War, began because Kashmir’s future was unresolved after Partition; armed conflict broke out in the state, and India and Pakistan became militarily involved on opposing sides. The ceasefire stopped the fighting but did not settle the dispute over Kashmir’s status.
