The opening matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 continued to provide excitement for football fans. However, several games have once again ended in draws as the teams have failed to hold on to their leads.
FIFA World Cup 2026: Switzerland vs Qatar
In the first match of the third day, the Switzerland national football team faced the Qatar national football team. Switzerland looked the stronger side for most of the game. The team had created a number of scoring chances.
The Swiss team took the lead in the 17th minute after being awarded a penalty. Breel Embolo converted the spot kick to put his side ahead.
Switzerland held the advantage until halftime, but Qatar improved after the break and pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
In the closing stages of the match, Boualem Khoukhi scored with a header to make it 1-1 and earn Qatar its first point of the tournament.
FIFA World Cup 2026: Morocco vs Brazil
Another match was the Morocco national football team taking on the Brazil national football team.
The Morocco team went ahead through Ismael Saibari, but Brazil responded soon after with a goal from Vinicius Junior.
Both teams searched for a winning goal in the final minutes, but strong defending kept the score level, and the match ended 1-1.
Earlier, hosts Canada national football team and Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team also shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw.
No Pakistan team at FIFA yet Sialkot’s ball is in every match, Ishaq Dar
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has paid tribute to the skilled and semi-skilled workers behind Sialkot’s FIFA ball.
In a post on X, Dar said, “Pakistan may not be among the competing teams, but a piece of Pakistan will be present in every pass, every save, and every goal.”
“The official match ball, the Adidas Trionda, crafted in Sialkot through the skill, precision and craftsmanship of Pakistani workers, will feature in every match”, he added, while “paying tribute to our skilled and semi-skilled workers whose excellence continues to earn Pakistan global recognition.”
