Fire engulfs factory in Landhi Export Zone as rescue efforts continue

Massive fire breaks out at Landhi’s factory in Karachi

Fire broke out at a factory in the Landhi Export Processing Zone in Karachi, with flames continuing to rage even after two hours of the incident.

According to the rescue official, nine fire brigade vehicles and two snorkels have been deployed to carry out the firefighting operation. Firefighters are actively working to bring the blaze under control.

Reports suggest that the fire originated on the first and second floors of the factory. Emergency response teams are making continuous efforts to contain the situation and prevent the fire from spreading further.

Rescue 1122 and KMC Fire Brigade personnel brought the fire on the second floor of the factory under control, while efforts are still ongoing to extinguish the fire on the third floor.

As soon as the fire started, nearby factories were evacuated, and goods from the lower floors were immediately removed and shifted to a safe place. Upon receiving information about the fire, Rescue 1122 and KMC Fire Brigade vehicles reached the site and began rescue operations. However, due to the severity of the fire, additional fire tenders and snorkels were called in.

More fire tenders, bowsers, and two snorkels arrived at the scene, and firefighters continued their efforts to control the blaze.

According to fire brigade officials, they received the report of the fire at around 2:15 p.m., after which teams were immediately dispatched. They further stated that firefighters faced difficulties due to the narrow access to the building. Despite this, they managed to prevent the fire from spreading further in extreme heat and brought the fire on the second floor under control. Initially, there was no access to the third floor of the building.

However, snorkels are now being used to control the fire on the third floor, and it is hoped that it will soon be brought under control. The fire reportedly started in the attic area of the factory.
