CSS 2027: FPSC announces exam schedule, important dates

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced the preliminary schedule for the annual examination of the Central Superior Services (CSS) 2027 on Friday. The commission has also shared the important dates that candidates need to follow. Here you can learn all about it.

According to an advance public notice issued by the FPSC, the examination process will begin in August 2026 with applications for the MCQ Based Preliminary Test (MPT). This is also known as the screening test.

CSS 2027 exam dates

Online applications for the MPT will be accepted from August 3 to August 20, 2026.

The FPSC said that all candidates who want to appear in the CSS 2027 examination have to first pass the MPT. The screening test will be held on September 27, 2026, at examination centres across Pakistan.

After the screening test, the commission will publish the advertisement for the CSS 2027 written examination on November 8, 2026.

Eligible candidates will be able to submit online applications for the written examination from November 10 to November 25, 2026.

The last date to submit a hard copy of the online application along with all required educational and other documents to the FPSC headquarters is December 4, 2026.

According to the advance notice, the written CSS 2027 examination will begin on January 27, 2027.

The FPSC has advised candidates to submit their applications within the announced deadlines.

It also asked applicants to regularly visit the official FPSC website for any updates, the detailed syllabus, and other instructions.

What is the cause of CSS failure?

Recently, Minister-in-Charge of the Establishment Division Senator Ahad Khan Cheema said the high failure rate in the CSS examinations is mainly due to poor academic preparation, the competitive nature of the exam, and several other factors.

He made the remarks in response to a question raised by PPP Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sehar Kamran.

She asked about the recruitment process for civil servants through the CSS examination and the reasons behind the high failure rate.
