Gas cylinder explosion claims seven lives in Chaman

At least seven people were killed, and more than twenty others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in the border city of Chaman.   

The incident occurred in the Shadzai area of the city when a gas cylinder exploded inside a house. According to police officials, women and children were among those killed in the blast.

Authorities said the explosion took place while children and elders of the village had gathered at the house to drink lassi. The powerful blast caused significant damage to the structure, destroying a large portion of the house.

Rescue teams and residents rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion and shifted the injured to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Police stated that, according to initial reports, the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder. A large number of children and women had gathered to receive lassi when a 20-kg gas cylinder, kept in the kitchen of the house, detonated.

Authorities further stated that the bomb disposal squad has been called to the scene following the explosion. Rescue operations are currently underway.
