Geo News has issued a public apology after an editorial mistake, saying it “fully acknowledges the mistake” and remains committed to responsible journalism.
In a statement, the channel said the purpose of the clarification was not to justify the incident but to admit the error, explain the steps taken and reaffirm its commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future.
Geo News said the mistake was completely unintentional and did not reflect its editorial values or institutional beliefs. It added that the material was released due to an internal oversight and apologised unreservedly.
The channel said it identified and corrected the mistake before any external complaint and accepted full responsibility. It also confirmed that no formal inquiry was initiated because the issue was addressed under its internal policies.
Geo News said it has introduced stronger editorial review systems, enhanced supervision and staff training. It also reaffirmed its respect for Islamic values, transparency, accountability and continuous improvement, adding that it has never acted against the beliefs and sensitivities of the Muslim Ummah.

Earlier, GEO news transmission went off air on the famous streaming app Tamasha after the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) ban.
PEMRA has suspended the License of Geo News after a special transmission for 10th Muharram.
According to the PEMRA suspension order, Geo News showed sensitive religious visualisation. The authority stated that the broadcast of such representation, given religious and cultural sensitivities, is a serious regulatory concern.
The visual display of the content could potentially hurt religious sentiments and cause a disturbance to public peace and law and order.
