Gmail has introduced a new feature for users, the purpose of which is to make the process of logging into different online accounts easier.
According to media reports, a feature called ‘Copy Code’ has been introduced in Gmail, which will be available on Android and iOS devices. Through this feature, users will find it easier to use two-factor authentication, or 2FA, codes.
Usually, when a verification code for an online account is received in Gmail, the user first has to open the email, then find the code and copy it. After that, the user has to go back to the relevant account and paste the code. Through the new feature, this process will become considerably shorter.
Copy code with one click from the notification
Through the ‘Copy Code’ shortcut, the 2FA code will be displayed directly in the phone’s notification. The user will be able to copy the code with just one click from the notification and paste it into the relevant account.
According to media reports, this feature will work with verification emails sent by various online services. At present, this facility is available only to Android and iOS users on the Gmail mobile app, while it has not been added to the web version. The new feature could be particularly useful for users who log into different accounts through 2FA on a daily basis.
