The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced four special facilities for citizens aged 60 and above to make it easier for senior citizens to obtain identity documents and access registration services.
According to NADRA, dedicated priority counters have been established for senior citizens at all NADRA offices across the country. Elderly citizens can use these counters to receive services on a priority basis, reducing waiting times and making visits to NADRA offices more convenient.
NADRA has also introduced the “Manpack” service for senior citizens who are unable to visit its offices due to advanced age or physical weakness. Under the facility, eligible citizens can receive NADRA services at their homes, eliminating the need to travel to a registration centre.
Another facility has been introduced to address difficulties faced by elderly citizens during biometric verification. NADRA said fingerprints can become faint with age, sometimes making fingerprint-based verification difficult.
In such cases, facial recognition can be used as an alternative method of biometric verification, allowing senior citizens to complete the process without facing difficulties caused by unclear fingerprints.
The authority has also highlighted a lifetime-valid identity card facility for citizens aged 60 and above. According to NADRA, an identity card issued to a citizen after reaching the age of 60 remains valid for life and does not require periodic renewal.
NADRA has advised senior citizens to contact their nearest NADRA centre for further information and to benefit from the facilities available to them.
The measures are intended to make identity-related services more accessible for elderly citizens, particularly those who face mobility or biometric verification challenges.
