Goods transport organisations announced an indefinite nationwide strike from August 8. During the protest, organisations announced the complete halt of transportation of all types of goods, the private media outlet reported on Monday.
According to the details, All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has announced a nationwide strike from August 8 amid a continuous rise in petroleum products on a daily basis. Similarly, the goods transporters of the Rawalpindi region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pledged their support for the action.
The president of All Pakistan Goods Transport, Malik Shehzad Awan, said during a press conference at Karachi Press Club that the transportation of all goods will remain halted until the demands of goods transporters are met.
Demanding the resignation of Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, he stated that a charter of demands has been presented to the federal and provincial governments, adding that this includes calls to abolish the system of daily price adjustments for petrol and diesel in favor of monthly price determination, to reverse the recent price hikes, and to withdraw the increase in toll taxes while restoring the rates applicable as of June 30, 2024.

Earlier, the goods transporters from all across Pakistan have urged the government to withdraw its decision to change the price of petrol and diesel every day.
They asked the government to reconsider its decision to revise petroleum product prices on a daily basis, warning that frequent changes are creating difficulties for the transport sector.
Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shahzad Awan raised the issue during a meeting with Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, where he briefed the governor on the challenges facing the transport industry.
