Google has introduced Dreambeans, a new experimental artificial intelligence (AI) app designed to transform users’ digital activity into personalised daily stories, bringing together information from multiple Google services in one place.
Developed by Google Labs, Dreambeans connects to apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, YouTube and Search history, with user permission. The AI then analyses the information and generates a limited number of customised stories each day based on a user’s habits, interests and upcoming plans.
According to Google, the app is designed to reduce digital clutter and help users focus on what matters most by turning scattered information into meaningful insights and recommendations.
For example, Dreambeans can combine details from different Google services, such as a package delivery confirmation in Gmail and an event scheduled in Google Calendar, to suggest relevant activities, places to visit or useful information.
Unlike traditional digital assistants, Dreambeans aims to connect seemingly unrelated pieces of information and provide proactive suggestions, including new restaurant recommendations, activity ideas and lifestyle tips tailored to a user’s routine.
Each story is accompanied by AI-generated illustrations that are personalised using information from the user’s connected services. Google says the feature is intended to create a more engaging and diary-like experience rather than relying on generic images.
Users can explore additional details within each story, search for related places and activities, plan future events and save stories for later reference. The system also learns from user feedback and adjusts future recommendations based on preferences.
Google has emphasized that privacy controls remain a key part of the experience. Users can choose which Google services to connect, manage permissions individually, delete their data and keep all generated stories private.
Explaining the name, Google said the “dream” element refers to the AI processing information overnight while users sleep, while “beans” represents a morning boost of inspiration, similar to starting the day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee.
Currently available as an experimental project through Google Labs, Dreambeans reflects the company’s latest efforts to make AI-powered personal assistance more contextual, personalised and action-oriented.
