Karachi’s feel-like temperature to reach 43 degree celsius

Karachi weather, rain update today June 7, 2026

Karachi is expected to experience a feel-like temperature of up to 43 degrees Celsius on Monday as hot and humid weather persists across the city, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The Met Office said the maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to remain between 35°C and 37°C, while the minimum temperature was recorded at around 30°C. Despite the actual temperature remaining below 40°C, high humidity levels are expected to push the perceived temperature to 43°C.

Weather officials also warned that heatwave conditions could develop in the region during the coming week. Southwesterly winds are currently blowing across the city at a speed of around 20 kilometres per hour.

In its seasonal outlook for June to August, the PMD said the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is currently in a neutral phase and is expected to turn positive by July 2026. Meanwhile, the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has entered a positive El Niño phase and is likely to strengthen further during the season.

Based on these climate patterns, the Met Office has forecast normal to below-normal rainfall across most parts of Pakistan during the June-August period, with the largest rainfall deficits expected in northeastern Punjab. Below-normal rainfall is also likely in Sindh, lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and most areas of Balochistan.

However, northern parts of the country, including Gilgit-Baltistan, adjoining areas of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, are expected to receive near-normal to slightly above-normal rainfall during the season.

On the other hand, a dry and intense heatwave-like weather has begun across Punjab, with forecasts predicting that the heat will further intensify in the coming days.

In the provincial capital, Lahore, the sun began showing its intensity early in the morning, with the temperature recorded at 33°C during the early hours.

The city’s minimum temperature is expected to remain around 27°C, while the maximum may rise up to 41°C.

Meteorologists say that not only daytime but nighttime temperatures are also increasing.

The minimum temperature, which had previously remained around 26°C, may rise to 28°C, meaning citizens will continue to experience hot and uncomfortable conditions even at night.

According to the forecast, temperatures are likely to range between 41°C and 44°C in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Gujrat from June 8 to 10.

Meanwhile, a more intense heatwave is expected in central Punjab, where temperatures could climb to 44°C to 48°C in Okara, Kasur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Jhang from June 8 to 11.
