Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be the last option, stressing that his party wants Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to remain part of the political process.
Speaking at a press conference, Bilawal said the PPP wanted PTI to play a role in politics, but maintained that the party must abandon what he described as extremist politics and unrest.
“The PPP wants PTI to have a role in politics, but that will only be possible when it abandons extremist politics,” he said.
Bilawal criticised the provincial chief minister for what he described as negative politics, arguing that political leaders should focus on stability rather than confrontation.
Referring to former president Asif Ali Zardari’s imprisonment, Bilawal said Zardari had spent 14 years in jail. He warned that if PTI continued what he called extremist politics, its founder, Imran Khan, could face an even longer period behind bars.
“PTI leaders are not listening to me. I urge them to abandon the politics of unrest,” Bilawal said.
He also addressed Sohail Afridi, saying that if the KP chief minister was sincere with Imran Khan, he should give up what Bilawal described as extremist politics.
Reiterating his position on governor’s rule, the PPP chairman said it would remain a last resort, while emphasising the need for political responsibility and an end to confrontation in the province.
