The Sindh government has announced a new code of conduct for the collection of sacrificial animal hides during Eid ul Azha.
Under the revised regulations, collecting animal hides without permission from the commissioner or deputy commissioner has been prohibited. Only registered charities, religious seminaries and welfare organisations will be permitted to carry out hide collection activities.
The code of conduct further states that banned organisations will not be allowed to collect hides under any name or affiliation. Authorities have also prohibited the establishment of collection camps and the display of banners related to hide collection drives.
The government has imposed restrictions on the use of flags, loudspeakers and promotional material on vehicles and buildings during the campaign. Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in the forced collection of hides.
According to the Sindh Home Department, hides collected in violation of the rules will be confiscated and handed over to authorised organisations, while law enforcement agencies will closely monitor the entire process.
The government has also suspended all weapon permits from 10 to 12 Zil Hajj. In addition, organisers of collective sacrificial arrangements will be required to obtain prior permission from commissioners and deputy commissioners, while violations of the code of conduct will result in legal cases being registered.
