Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced a major relief for the public before Eid ul Azha 2026 by deciding to relaunch the “Awam Express” after upgrading it with modern facilities.
The train will officially be inaugurated on May 24 and is expected to provide better travel facilities to passengers during the Eid ul Azha 2026 holidays.
According to the details, the Awam Express has been fully upgraded. The train has a modern interior design and more comfortable seats for passengers now.
The train schedule has also been changed so it can reach Karachi in less time. In addition to this, better food and cleanliness arrangements have also been promised during the journey.
Hanif Abbasi said the government wants to provide safe and quality travel facilities to the public.
He added that Pakistan Railways is planning to start one “prime train” from every major city to reduce traffic on roads and encourage people to travel by train.
Awam Express, which was once a popular train service, had lost its importance due to different issues.
In recent months, the new railway administration has started upgrading old trains with the help of the private sector and internal resources to increase revenue and regain public trust.
The relaunch of Awam Express is being seen as a positive step, but there are still challenges ahead.
