Pakistan Railways has banned media coverage and vlogging of its operations, infrastructure, and restricted areas, according to reports on Sunday.
It has also stopped the publication of any content about the department without getting a written permission before.
In a social media message, Pakistan Railways told journalists, vloggers, bloggers, content creators, and social media users, as well as railway staff helping them, that they have to get approval before covering anything related to the department.
Under the new rules, media people have to get written permission from the Railways Headquarters in Lahore before entering, filming, taking photos, or publishing any content about Pakistan Railways.
The department has also warned that anyone who does not follow these rules might have to face legal and disciplinary action under the laws of Pakistan.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi inaugurated an upgraded train at Rawalpindi Railway Station. He said that this step is part of efforts to improve the railway system.
The upgraded Safari Train has air-conditioned coaches, better seating, and a family-friendly environment as well.
It has been designed for tourism and will stop at different stations for short visits and activities.
Passengers will also have the option to stay longer and enjoy food at scenic places, including Attock Khurd.
The minister said that the new train shows the government’s focus on better travel and promoting tourism.
He further added that more people are now using trains, and this shows growing public trust in them.
Officials have also said this step will help Pakistan Railways grow in the tourism sector and give passengers a better travel experience.
Earlier, Hanif Abbasi said Pakistan Railways has achieved record daily revenue.
He said that for the last 15 days, the department has been earning around Rs300 million daily. He added that the railway system has now been fully digitalised across Pakistan.
