Govt announces jobs, training for 25,000 unemployed youth

The Punjab government has announced a major initiative to train 25,000 young people and connect them with employment opportunities, according to reports on Thursday.

CM Youth Employability Program

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the plan under the CM Youth Employability Program. This step is expected yat equipping youth with digital skills and prepare them for global job markets.

The program was approved during a meeting of the Punjab Development Working Party.

The officials said that it will meet the growing demand in the IT and BPO sectors.

Jobs will be available in customer support, call centres, and digital marketing, among other fields.

Over the next five years, 25,000 young people will receive training in cities. These locations include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, and Sialkot.

The Punjab Skills Development Fund will oversee implementation and monitoring. The training will combine classroom learning with practical work environments.

In addition to this, payments will be made in three stages to the trainers. This will be based on performance.

All payments will be made via digital bank to bank transfers, and trainers will only be paid after verified employment results.

The government will cover all training costs, with a minimum education requirement of matriculation. But some flexibility will be allowed. Employment will be verified through payroll and third party checks.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has invited eligible IT companies across Punjab to take part in the Chief Minister IT Internship Program.

The Chief Minister IT Internship Program is a government supported initiative. It is expected to strengthen the digital workforce in Punjab and support growth in the IT industry.

The program seeks to connect academic learning with industry needs. It will provide fresh graduates in IT and Computer Science with practical work experience in professional settings.
