The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has launched a one-month Skill Development Training programme for the second cohort (Phase-II) of graduates from 2025 under its Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Programme, a structured house-job initiative for young engineers.
The initiative involves 1,400 trainee engineers. The first batch of 700 trainees will undergo training from September 1 to 30, 2026, while the remaining 700 will receive training from October 1 to 31, 2026.
The PEC is implementing the GET Placement Programme in collaboration with more than 60 industrial partners across the country, providing graduate engineers with structured field exposure and professional development opportunities.
Under the programme, trainees undergo five months of field training with industrial partners, followed by one month of skills development training. Each trainee receives a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 throughout the programme.
The skills development component is being conducted five days a week at eight training centres in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta.
The curriculum includes communication skills, emotional intelligence, executive presence, stress management, business writing, public speaking, conflict resolution, stakeholder management, critical thinking, time management, innovation and engineering ethics.
During the final week, trainees will also participate in a one-week Certificate Programme in Personality Development organised by the National Defence University (NDU).
PEC Chairman Engr Waseem Nazir said the GET Placement Programme was aimed at bridging the gap between academic education and professional practice by providing young engineers with hands-on industrial exposure alongside essential workplace skills.
He said the house-job model for engineers would help improve employability, strengthen industry-academia linkages and prepare graduates to meet evolving industry requirements.
Nazir added that the PEC remained focused on creating meaningful professional opportunities for young engineers and developing a skilled engineering workforce capable of contributing to Pakistan’s economic and technological development.
