Today marks the 27th death anniversary of one of the great sons of Pakistan Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed who is being remembered with great respect and reverence.
The decorated soldier is being honoured by the country and the Pakistan Armed Forces have paid rich tribute to his unmatched gallantry, bravery and undaunting spirit for serving the motherland.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations Field Marshal Asim Munir said in his message that Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed’s courage, resilience, and sacrifice will continue to inspire future generations.
“The martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland are the pride of the nation and their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” he said.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu also paid rich tribute to the gallant fallen soldier saying his sacrifice was a golden chapter of Pakistan’s national defence history.
Havaldar Lalak Jan was a soldier of the Pakistan Army, Northern Light Infantry. He belonged to Yasin village in the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan. He served on an important posting on a critical front line during the conflict in Kargil.
Despite the heavy shelling from the enemy and several attacks, Havaldar Lalak Jan remained at his post, defending.
He was gravely injured, but he refused to be evacuated and held his men back till the end, settling for martyrdom and fighting against the enemy.
For his extraordinary bravery, complete devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice, the Government of Pakistan conferred upon him the highest military honour of Nishan-e-Haider.
His grave is in his native village of Yasin Valley where the people pray and pay tribute to him annually on his birth and death anniversaries.
Visitors come to his grave to pay their respects including local residents, military and people from various backgrounds.
Havaldar Lalak Jan’s legacy of patriotism, discipline, and sacrifice continues to serve as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come, encouraging them to serve and protect the country with unwavering dedication.
