Pakistani security forces responded to firing by the Afghan Taliban in the Kurram sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Tuesday.
The Pakistani forces targeted Afghan Taliban border posts and firing positions. The firing from those positions stopped after the response.
According to security sources, Afghan Taliban forces fired at Pakistani security positions along the border in the Kurram sector.
In response, Pakistani forces returned fire and targeted the posts and positions from which firing was being carried out towards Pakistani areas.
Previously, Pakistan carried out intelligence-based precision air strikes against terrorist hideouts of the Kharji Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group and FAK inside Afghanistan along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to the information released about the operation, 28 terrorists were killed while several others were injured in the strikes.
Pakistan said the operation targeted terrorist hideouts linked to cross-border terrorism and warned that attacks originating from Afghanistan would be met with a strong response.
The statement further said Pakistan would continue carrying out strikes unless Afghanistan takes concrete measures to prevent and eliminate cross-border terrorism.
Pakistan forces foil infiltration attempt
Before this, Pakistan’s security forces foiled an alleged infiltration attempt by Fitna al-Khawarij from the Kurram sector, according to security sources.
The attempt was reportedly carried out under the supervision of the Afghan Taliban.
After the attempt was stopped, Afghan Taliban forces allegedly opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector.
Security sources said the infiltration attempt came from Afghan posts in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces.
Pakistani troops deployed along the border responded and stopped the infiltrators from entering Pakistani territory.
The sources said Afghan Taliban forces later fired at Pakistani border posts using heavy weapons, mortars and other arms.
