Which alternate routes can you use?
People who are travelling between Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar may use the N-5/GT Road as an alternative route while the M-1 remains closed.
Travellers heading towards Swat and surrounding areas can also consider routes connecting through the Swat Expressway (M-16). But it will also depend on the latest traffic conditions.
Travellers are advised to check the latest traffic updates before starting their journey and follow instructions from the National Highways and Motorway Police.
Is M-2 Motorway between Lahore and Islamabad open?
Meanwhile, the M-2 Motorway between Lahore and Islamabad will remain open to all types of traffic.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys according to the traffic advisory and follow the instructions issued by the traffic police. It will remain closed until further notice.
Two lanes closed on M-2 motorway
Previously, two lanes of the M-2 motorway near Khanqah Dogran have been temporarily closed due to ongoing road repair work, according to the Motorway Police.
The closure is on the northbound section of the motorway, where the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) is carrying out patchwork and other maintenance work.
A Motorway Police spokesperson said the second and third lanes have been closed for around 200 to 250 metres to facilitate the repair work.
Cones and diversion signs have been placed around the work area to guide motorists and warn them about the lane closure.
Motorway Police have advised drivers to reduce their speed, remain alert and avoid overtaking while passing through the repair zone.
Motorists have also been asked to follow traffic signs and instructions from motorway officials.
Authorities said special traffic arrangements have been made to minimise disruption and keep traffic moving.
Drivers travelling on the M-2 have been advised to allow extra time for their journey and exercise caution near the repair site.
The lane closures will remain in place until the required maintenance work is completed.
