Heavy Fog: Several motorways closed in Punjab, KP

Fog Intense

Dence fog again covered different areas of the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the night between Friday and Saturday, affecting normal life and causing traffic disruptions on motorways due to reduced visibility, a private media outlet reported.

The intense fog has been disrupting the flow of road traffic in several cities of Punjab and KP. According to a Motorway spokesperson, the Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Swabi, Motorway M2 from Thokar Niaz Baig to Chakri, Motorway M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, Motorway M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Shershah, Motorway M11 from Mahmood Boti to Sambrial and Motorway M14 from Daud Khel to Esa Khel have been closed for all kinds of traffic.

The spokesperson said officials made the decision to protect lives and property amid dangerous weather conditions.

Authorities warned that lane violations during fog can cause serious accidents and urged drivers to strictly follow lane discipline. They advised motorists to use fog lights, slow down, and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead.

Officials also urged citizens to plan daytime travel, saying visibility remains better between 10:00am and 6:00pm. The Motorway Police further advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and contact the motorway helpline 130 for guidance or assistance during fog-related disruptions.
