At least seven people have died and two others were injured in separate rain-related incidents in Sindh’s Tharparkar and Umerkot districts during the ongoing monsoon rains.
Local authorities said six people died in Tharparkar. Lightning strikes killed three people during thunderstorms, one person drowned in rainwater, and two others died after falling into water-filled pits created by the heavy rain.
In neighbouring Umerkot district, one person drowned in a rain-related incident, while two others suffered injuries in separate accidents.
Rescue teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities are continuing relief and rescue operations in the affected areas and are closely monitoring the situation, warning that more rainfall could increase the risk of accidents, especially in low-lying areas.
Officials have advised residents to stay alert during heavy rain and avoid places where water can collect quickly. They also urged people to stay away from low-lying areas, rainwater drains, storm channels and open pits, which become dangerous during flooding or poor visibility.
The latest incidents highlight the dangers of the ongoing monsoon spell in parts of Sindh, where heavy rainfall can cause waterlogging, flash floods and other weather-related accidents.
Authorities have asked residents to follow weather advisories and cooperate with emergency and rescue teams working in the affected areas.
