Karachi water supply to remain suspended in several areas from August 3 to 5

Fear of water supply in Karachi

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) has announced a temporary suspension of water supply in several parts of Karachi from August 3 to August 5 due to upgradation work at the Gharo Old Pumping House.

The water outage will affect Ibrahim Hyderi, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, PAF Base Masroor, and surrounding areas of Karsaz.

According to the utility, the 48-hour upgrade will begin at 10:00 AM on August 3 and continue until 10:00 AM on August 5. During this period, engineers will carry out key technical work, including the installation and commissioning of new motors, pumps, and modern switchgear, relocation of a 1,000 kVA transformer, laying of power cables, and activation of a new switching system.

KW&SC said the project is aimed at strengthening the city’s water supply infrastructure and ensuring a more stable, efficient, and reliable water distribution system in the future.

KW&SC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddique has instructed officials to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe to minimise disruption for residents.

The corporation added that once completed, the upgrade will significantly enhance the Gharo Pumping Station’s capacity, operational performance, and long-term reliability.
