The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has warned citizens against fake agents attempting to defraud people in the name of academic document verification, urging the public not to share their personal or educational information with unauthorised individuals.
In a public alert, the HEC said that certain individuals were posing as authorised agents for document verification and offering applicants assistance in getting their academic degrees and other documents attested by the commission.
The commission clarified that services offered by such individuals could be a means of fraud and advised citizens to remain vigilant. It urged applicants to avoid handing over their personal information, academic details and documents to unauthorised persons.
According to the HEC, the entire process of academic document verification is online and paperless, allowing applicants to conveniently apply for verification from the comfort of their homes.
The commission advised applicants to complete the verification process themselves by following the instructions available on the HEC’s official website rather than seeking assistance from agents or intermediaries.
Citizens can visit the HEC website at www.hec.gov.pk for information and applications related to academic document verification. An online helpdesk is also available to assist applicants.
For further guidance, citizens can contact the HEC at 051-111-119-432 or 0334-1119432.
