‘Unnecessary’: Hina Pervaiz Butt responds to Azma Bokhari's criticism
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt has defended her recent tweet about justice under the government of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Hina said she had only shared her personal opinion that justice is delivered quickly under Maryam Nawaz’s government. She said her tweet reflected the feelings of an ordinary citizen.
She clarified that her tweet did not accuse the chief minister or criticise the Punjab government.
Further, she said that she had not made any statement about the courts. She called the criticism and propaganda against her tweet unfair.

What did Hina say about Azma Bokhari’s remarks?

Hina disagreed with Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari’s statement that her tweets had caused embarrassment for the Punjab government.
She said her words and actions had never caused embarrassment to Maryam Nawaz or the provincial government. She added that if Azma felt embarrassed, it was her personal choice.
Hina also acknowledged that Azma was the official spokesperson of the Punjab government and had explained the government’s position. However, she said the remarks made against her were unnecessary.

What did Hina say about child abuse cases?

Hina referred to several cases involving children and young people from Karachi, Multan, Islamabad, Sargodha and Abbottabad. These included the cases of Aizal, Wasim, Laiba, Muntaha and Iman.
She called for the parents of the victims to be invited to her programme and asked what punishment should be given to those responsible for harming their children.
Hina said she had expressed the feelings of the public. She criticised those who defended criminals without meeting the families of victims.
She said she regularly met parents whose children had suffered terrible abuse and whose bodies were later found in disturbing conditions.

Hina expresses concern for victims’ families

Hina spoke about the pain faced by the families of the victims. She asked people to think about what the parents went through after learning about the incidents.
She referred to 18-year-old Aizal and questioned how her mother was coping with the tragedy.
She also spoke about Laiba’s father and the pain he must have felt after learning about his daughter’s death.
Hina said people should consider the suffering of these families before defending those accused of such crimes.
She stressed that her statements reflected the concerns of ordinary people and the families seeking justice.
