The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has released an official notification of holiday in Rawalpindi on April 9 and 10, 2026.
As per the notification released by the DC office of Rawalpindi, the Deputy Commissioner, Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, announced the holiday on April 9 and 10, within the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi district.
The notification also said that emergency departments, institutions and authorities will remain operational.
The holiday has been announced as a result of peace talks to be conducted between the US and Iran to be held in Islamabad.
April 9 holiday
The government of Pakistan has also announced a local holiday in the capital, Islamabad.
DC Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, in a notification, has clarified this.
The notification was officially issued by the office of the District Magistrate.
Meanwhile, the following operations will continue even during the two-day holiday:
- MCI
- CDA
- ICT Administration
- ICT Police
- IESCO SNGPL
- Hospitals
DC Islamabad also asked the citizens to plan their journeys according to the holiday plan.
Peace talks Islamabad
The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has invited the leaders of the US and Iran to Islamabad for further negotiations after the ceasefire deal was done on April 8.
PM Shehbaz and Field Marshal (FM) Syed Asim Munir have played a vital role in the diplomatic efforts to attain the ceasefire agreement between the states.
The world is recognising their efforts as a positive step towards peace.
PM Shehbaz thanked the leaders of both the US and Iran for considering his proposal for the ceasefire.
Shehbaz Sharif posted a tweet last night asking the US President, Trump, to extend the Iran attack deadline for two weeks.
Trump, in response, said that he has a great respect for PM Shehbaz and will consider his offer.
As a result, he announced a ceasefire for 14 days. And said that upon the requests of PM Shehbaz and FM Syed Asim Munir, I am announcing a ceasefire of two weeks.
