It is a simple formula, when a player delivers a brilliant performance in a major tournament, he not only earns appreciation but also receives a handsome amount in the form of prizes and cash awards. Here, we reveal the details of cash prizes received by top Pakistani athletes during the financial year 2024–25.

The government has distributed cash prizes worth Rs 206.45m to Pakistani athletes during the financial year 2024–25.

According to official documents presented in Parliament, the largest share of the awards went to national javelin star Arshad Nadeem, who received Rs152m in recognition of his outstanding international performances.

His coach, Salman Iqbal Butt, was also honoured with a cash prize of Rs10.6m for his contribution to Nadeem’s success.

In snooker, World Snooker Championship winner Muhammad Asif received Rs 2.5m, while he was also awarded an additional Rs 500,000 for winning the SAARC Snooker Championship.

Ahsan Ramzan, who claimed a bronze medal at the Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship, received Rs 500,000, and Muhammad Naseem Akhtar was awarded Rs 100,000 for securing a bronze medal.

Pakistani table tennis players were collectively given Rs1.45m for their success at the South Asian Regional Table Tennis Championship.

Athletes who represented Pakistan at the Special Olympics World Winter Games were awarded a total of Rs 3.05m, acknowledging their medal-winning performances. Meanwhile, national squash players received Rs 1.75m for victories at the Asian Junior Squash Championship, along with Rs 7.5m for triumphs at the World Under-23 Individual Squash Championship.

Taekwondo athletes emerged among the major beneficiaries, receiving a combined Rs 115m for winning multiple medals at the Asian Open World Taekwondo Championship.

The government stated that these incentives are part of its efforts to encourage excellence in sports and recognize athletes who bring international recognition to Pakistan.
