A woman in Faisalabad has alleged that her husband sold her to a friend in exchange for a Rs70,000 loan.
The 33-year-old woman, identified as Nadia, claimed that she was later forced into another marriage while her children remain missing.
She added that she was married to Usman, a resident of Mananwala, around 12 years ago, and the couple have three children.
According to Nadia, the family later moved to a rented house in Ansari Park, Kokianwala, where her husband had allegedly borrowed Rs70,000 from a friend, Shehzad, who frequently visited their home.
She claimed that when she objected to the visits, her husband became abusive. Nadia alleged that after Shehzad demanded repayment of the loan, her husband agreed to hand her over to him instead.
The woman further alleged that Usman fled with their 10-year-old daughter, Madiha, and eight-year-old son, Abuzar, while Shehzad and several accomplices held her and her four-year-old son, Shehryar, at gunpoint before taking them to his house.
Nadia alleged she was prevented from contacting her family and was later forced to sign documents, including what she described as a fake divorce deed prepared using stamp papers obtained with her national identity card.
She further claimed that days later she was taken to court and, under threats to her young son’s life, forced into a second marriage.
According to Nadia, she remained with Shehzad for about a year, during which she was subjected to abuse and intimidation. She said her brothers traced her and brought her home on 17 June, but alleged that her youngest son remains in Shehzad’s custody.
She also claimed that the suspect continues to threaten her family by telephone.
Nadia said she has submitted an application to the City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, alleging that police have so far failed to arrest the suspects or recover her children.
She has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Maryam Nawaz and the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police to ensure the recovery of her three children and take legal action against those she has accused.
