Pakistan’s internationally acclaimed singer Atif Aslam, who holds a special place among audiences in Pakistan and around the world for his soulful and emotive voice has said that, even today, he does not know how he achieved success, reflecting on his musical journey and rise to fame.
The singer recently spoke candidly about his fame, success and connection to music in an interview with a known Indian You-Tube channel.
Success journey
Atif Aslam while discussing his rise to success said he himself had no idea how it happened. He explained that after releasing one song, an artist begins wondering what will come next, and thoughts start flowing in about whether people will like it at all.
The singer said the situation becomes even more difficult after an album is released, as it brings with it a sense of responsibility.
Atif Aslam noted that many people attribute his success to hard work, but in his own view, there was no particular effort involved. Instead, he said, Allah takes a person to wherever He wants to see them.
Considering of quitting music or not?
Further, responding to a question about leaving music industry, Atif Aslam said he had never thought about stepping away from singing or music. However, he acknowledged that artists sometimes go through periods of creative stagnation, which he considers a necessary phase for any artist. At that time an artist feels unable to write or create anything new.
He further added that a moment arrives when a person feels their creative “cup” has been refilled. At that point, he said, he sits quietly, offers gratitude to Allah, and simply enjoys that feeling.
Atif Aslam is one of Pakistan’s most known singers and performers. He rose to fame with the band Jal before launching a successful solo career that made him a major name in the music industry and has over 11 million followers on social media. Over the years, Atif has delivered numerous popular songs in Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi, while also contributing vocals to films and television projects.
