Residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi Cantt will face a planned power shutdown on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) carries out annual maintenance and construction work on parts of its network.
According to an IESCO press release, electricity supply will be temporarily suspended on selected 11kV feeders, as well as during maintenance-related work linked to grid stations and transmission infrastructure.

Why is the shutdown taking place?
IESCO said the outages are required for system maintenance and development work, including repairs and construction on 11kV feeders. The company added that such work is necessary to ensure a stable power supply and prevent faults in the future.
Officials warned that electricity supply would be restored as soon as work is completed, and outages may end earlier than scheduled in some areas.
Areas affected in Islamabad
In Islamabad, power supply will remain suspended from 9:00am to 2:00pm in parts of the Islamabad Circle. Areas likely to be affected include NIH, T&T, Bhara Kahu (Phases 1 and 2), Tret, Golf City, Park View Society and Athal.
IESCO clarified that no areas will be affected by maintenance at the New Wah and Gujar Khan 132kV grid stations, though surrounding areas will remain closed during work hours.

Rawalpindi Cantt and nearby areas
In Rawalpindi Cantt, electricity will be suspended from 7:00am to 6:00pm in Kahuta City-1 and Lehtrar-1, along with surrounding localities.
IESCO apologised to consumers for the inconvenience and advised residents to plan their activities accordingly during the shutdown period.

The department has also mentioned the shutdown in their tweet on X.
